In the question booklet, I noticed that there is a question about precipitation and rainfall. I have found a useful website which the gives a definition of precipitation and describes how different types of precipitation form: "http://ww2010.atmos.uiuc.edu/(Gh)

Thanks Tom.
Rainfall is just one form of precipitation.
What types would you expect in our extreme environment ?

I would say that Svalbard wouldn't experience rainfall as the only form of precipitation. The most common forms would probably be snow, freezing rain and sleet. This is because the conditions are so cold and in winter it is most likely that all precipitation would be snow. However, in the slightly warmer months it could fall as sleet or even freezing rain, which freezes upon contact with cold surfaces.I'm not sure about the frequency of hailstorms in Svalbard though...

Hi Sir,

Just a query... In our question and answer booklet there is a couple of questions about Barking Town Centre and Bluewater, but they do not feature in the actual question resource booklet. Will we need to know about these in the exam? Do we also need to know about Cabot Circus?

Thanks,
Frankie

They are there for comparison purposes - you don't need to know about them, but you would need to be able to compare Broadmead with the Vancouver centre: the CBD of "Your place.."

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could find me a good explanation to this question: "What are the advantages of producers forming co-operatives?" I'm struggling to think of a good way to put it across...

Thanks,
TOM CLARK

Benefit of working in a group.
More likely to attract a buyer, who wouldn't be interested in very small amounts from individual farms.
Benefit from specialist knowledge.
Help each other if one farmer ill, or needs to borrow equipment.

Those are some to get you started...

Tom, that website for the University of Illinois is really helpful - it explains all the different forms of precipitation really well.
And thanks Sir for the annswer to the co-operative question - I had done the question but my answer was not that detailed!
